Congratulations to Simon Plummer of Salisbury A&RC and Holly Rush of Team Bath who braved the cold to retain their titles at the Wiltshire 10 Road Race held in Melksham.

Nearly three hundred runners lined up in Melksham for the second running of the Wiltshire Times sponsored Wiltshire 10-mile road race. The course proceeds out of the town on the Calne Road before heading on to Lacock for a loop around the historic village then heads back into Melksham before finishing alongside the river Avon at the King George V Playing Fields. Braving the cold both Simon Plummer of Salisbury A&RC and GB international Holly Rush of Team Bath AC retained their titles gained at last year’s event with Simon recording 53:54 and Holly 62:29.
Running second to Simon Plummer was Team Bath's Alistair Sheffield who had a close fought battle with Gerry Hogg of the Running Forever club finishing just four seconds ahead but it was the Taunton club who took the team victory by just six seconds of their cumulative time ahead of Team Bath. In fifth place Dave Rontell of Cheltenham Harriers was the 1st MV40, in 8th place Phil Westlake of Bitton Road Runners was the 1st MV50 whilst Bernie Hobbs of Avon Valley Runners claimed the MV60 title.
For the ladies Michelle Kerfoot of Bitton Road Runners finished second recording 63:50 ahead of third placed Joanna Thompson of Team Bath who with Holly Rush, Victoria Plummer and Annabel Harford gaining the team victory for Team Bath AC ahead of Bitton Road Runners. In 43rd place Louis Cronin of Bristol based Great Western Runners was 1st FV40, with 44th placed Diane Hier of Warminster Running Club the 1st FV50 with Rosemary Barber of Avon Valley Runners taking the FV60 title.
Spot prizes on the day were presented to lucky finishers by Sportzform of Chippenham.
