The Foxtrot 5


Nearly two hundred runners lined up on the Common in Broughton Gifford for the Foxtrot 5-mile race. The warm conditions brought a close fought race between Tom Fisher and Simon Nott, with the Avon Valley Runner taking victory over the John Bentley School runner, by nine seconds recording 26:13.

The warm conditions brought a close fought race between Tom Fisher and Simon Nott, with the Avon Valley Runner taking victory over the John Bentley School runner, by nine seconds recording 26:13. In third place Michael Towler of Avon Valley Runners helped the West Wiltshire club secure the team prize along with 11th placed Warren Wade and 12th placed Carl Davies. Kevin Dyer of Oxford City claimed the MV40 title with Sean Butler of Avon Valley Runners the 1st MV50 and Jeff Davies of South West Vets the 1st MV60.

In the Ladies race, Amy Chalk of Bristol & West AC claimed her third victory at the Foxtrot 5 recording a time of 29:31 with Anita Mellowdrew of Team Bath AC second and Debbie Jones of Chippenham Harriers third. Diane Aldridge of Corsham Running Club claimed the 1st FV40 prize with Karen Butler of Avon Valley Runners 1st FV50 and Rosemary Barber of Avon Valley Runners 1st FV60.

The Team Bath trio of Anita Mellowdrew, Margaret Thompson and Helen Pettemerides secured the team prize with complimentary entry into the White Horse Gallop 5-mile Trail Run which takes place on 28th November from Leighton Recreation Ground in Westbury.
